The Next Phase is designed to assist older employees to reflect on and plan how they will manage the latter part of their career.
The Next Phase incorporates a series of information sessions and facilitated discussions, as well as an opportunity for each participant to discuss their unique circumstances with a consultant. Topics covered include:
- The unique contribution of older workers – the value of wisdom and experience
- Current economic realities and workplace expectations – sorting the facts from the rumours
- Redefining retirement – the blurred boundary at the end of our working lives
- Policies and opportunities for a different worklife balance
- Sorting out the practicalities – financial and lifestyle considerations
- Negotiation and compromise – making it happen so everyone wins
The Next Phase consists of three integrated program elements. There are five discussion sessions; two information sessions, which include information on your organisation’s HR policies and information about financial considerations relevant to retirement; and also a one-on-one session with a facilitator, during which each participant can discuss their personal issues and circumstances.
The program is designed to provide participants with information and skills to enable them to:
- Make sound decisions about the kind of transition to retirement that will best suit them
- Ensure their contributions continue to be valued and sought after as long as they remain at work
- Identify and negotiate opportunities to facilitate their desired transition
